A one-day interactive seminar drew more than 100 teachers, journalists, local and political bloggers, community videographers, public advocates and active citizens to Lowell, Mass., on Saturday, April 7 in the first event sponsored by the New England News Forum.

The New England News Forum kickoff was also the scene for the first faceoff among candidates in the looming Massachusetts Fifth Congressional District special election. Read jennifer Amy Meyers story in the Lowell Sun: http://www.lowellsun.com/front/ci_5622272

Meyers also covered the event generally, in a story headlined: "Forum puts focus on press freedom, challenges of changing technology." She wrote: "Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas wants cell-phone service on the ski slopes, WiFi capabilities on the dairy farms and the convenience of renewing his fishing license online. Douglas shared his technological vision for the Green Mountain state with more than 100 journalists, bloggers and educators who gathered at the Wannalancit Mills yesterday for a daylong convention hosted by the New England News Forum."
