New page

At the Jan. 7 meeting, these policy issues were among those informally explored:<br>

#Use talents of colleges/universities to develop needs assessment for e-government website updating
#Develop K-16 policy for digital-media education -- with support for professional development and assessment.
#Develop a tax credit for "solopreneurs" who work in the digital media sector - to retain young digital media innovators
#Restore film tax credit to support film and media production projects in RI
#Create a digital media education center in Providence that includes college/univ partners and BBRI -- companies like Alex & Ani, GTech and Hasbro pay to support it and get access to best and brightest grads
#Create a fund that provides stipends for recent grads to have post-grad internships with tech entrepreneurs with informal mentoring
#Provide educational training to tech entrepreneurs and digital media and design professionals to improve their capacity to teach in HS / colleges on a part-time basis -- builds real-world learning experiences for current students and supports current and next generation of RI business owners to contribute to their local communities
#Formal partnership with RIDE and ISTE (international tech education org) which could include a leadership institute for principals and chool leaders - positioning RI as leading in statewide initiative for digital literacy
#Make a competitive fund available to school districts to send faculty to URI's Summer Institute in Digital Literacy
