Here are reports from afternoon sharing:

  • Len Witt: Reach out to people on the ground and find out what they know and don't know. It's a paradigm change.
  • Victor of Univ. of Ill. and free press.
  • Several sessions on media policy. A recurring theme was ignoring Internet policy is perilous. If journalism will have at least a net component,then have to engaged with network neutrality and other things. There also might be a role for policy to subsidize these models and create new revenue streams. There may be other ways to get local government involved.
  • Jim Shaffer: Is journalism broken or is the vessel broken? it is a question of one-to-one journalism and many-to-one journalism. Aren't values the same regardless of the vehicle. Jim is concluding the values should change as we move to many to many -- that implies a different covenant.
