AGENDA FOR Saturday, May 3 -- SPJ at NewsTools2008

Today represents a joining of two rivers involving both journalists and technologists.

Project work continues

  • Those NewsTools2008 participants who still have work to do on their concept/design/build projects from Thursday and Friday are resuming their work in the Yahoo center. These projects, initiatives and seedling companies can continue hacking.

Afternoon workshops, panels, seminars

  • After lunch, SPJ will convene two sets of workshops, panels or seminars on journalism/media topics relevant to the region. The SPJ program specifics will begin to be posted during February.

Briefings and the next steps

  • At 3:30 p.m., SPJ, NewsTools and Expo participants will all gather for final briefings and next-step announcements from the NewsTools2008 project workers.

One-day registration available soon

NewsTools2008.org participants are automatically enrolled in the day; a one-day registration (including box lunch) for Saturday will be available soon from SPJ.

10 a.m.-noon -- Breakouts/expo underway

Noon p.m.-12:30 p.m. -- Box lunch service/networking; SPJ keynote

12:30 p.m.-1:45 p.m. --- First SPJ panel breakouts; JournaTech Expo continues

1:45 p.m.-2:00 p.m. -- Snacks and networking

2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. -- Second SPJ panel breakouts

3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. -- Join NewsTools2008 project reports / next steps

5:30 p.m. -- NewsTools2008 ends / SPJ meeting ends.
