Join Margaret Duffy, acting dean for Research and Graduate studies at the Missouri School of Journalism, for a discussion of findings by Missouri, Michigan State and Ohio researchers. The team has been surveying and analyzing the operations and challenges of more than 40 local online news/community sites nationwide and have provocative initial findings about gatekeeping, technology, and legacy news organizations. She will also discuss their development of a sophisticated social network that is connecting those with needs, resources and shared interests in citizen and community journalism.
