Citizens at the gates: Citizen journalism in 2008
|
Join Margaret Duffy, acting dean for Research and Graduate studies at the Missouri School of Journalism, for a discussion of findings by Missouri, Michigan State and Ohio researchers. The team has been surveying and analyzing the operations and challenges of more than 40 local online news/community sites nationwide and have provocative initial findings about gatekeeping, technology, and legacy news organizations. She will also discuss their development of a sophisticated social network that is connecting those with needs, resources and shared interests in citizen and community journalism. After the summary, Duffy will answer questions and seek feedback regarding the findings and next steps.
