Unveilings -- New ideas, products from NewsTools2008 participants

The participants in NewsTools2008 are busy creating new ideas, products and services. Here are a few we know about (add your's):

SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS ON FRIDAY

We've lined up two of the most critical non-profit ventures on the cutting edge of journalism's future for back-to-back half-hour breakout presentations on Friday morning. Beat the traffic and arrive early -- we'll give you breakfast.

  • At 8:30 a.m., Bill Allison of Sunlight Labs/Sunlight Foundation:
  • And, at 9 a.m., Fabrice Florin (or a colleague) at NewsTrust:

OTHER UNVEILINGS

Several other NewsTools2008 sponsors and participants are ready to unveil innovations in journalism or public-interest communication. Here are some we know about:

  • Eduardo Hauser’s DailyMe.com is just emerging from a public beta, with new leadership from an old Yahoo hand, asfasfasdf. A NewsTools2008 sponsor, he’ll be talking about it during lunch on Thursday. http://www.dailyme.com
  • Richard Anderson’s tech team is feverishly working to have a demo of the new VillageSoup.com learn-share-shop community platform read to show during our Thursday reception and dinner. See: http://www.villagesoup.com/about/index.cfm
  • The folks at FatDoor are in the midst of a name change (to Centerd.com) and relaunch of their real-neighborhood networking and news service. Dan Visnick will be around to tell us about it during Friday’s afternoon reception. You can look in on their preview blog: http://28dots.blogspot.com/
  • Guy Kawasaki is passing along to folks a link to a beta project he’s excited about called AllTop. Here’s an example: http://journalism.alltop.com
